Nephews

My sister Nicole and her family are here visiting this weekend. I decided to wear a bright red shirt and white polka dot skirt to church. As I'm finishing my hair, Kaden (almost 4) looks at me and says, "You look like a fire truck." I just started laughing; I highly doubt he was insulting my figure. Little boys are awesome. I can hardly wait until Evelyn starts saying ridiculous things like that.

Say a Prayer

I write this post because the person I wish for you all to say a prayer for is an acquaintance of mine, and a very good friend to my in-laws, Chuck & Diane. Her name is Emily Coburn. She is a young mother with 4 children, whose husband and two daughters drowned today in a tragic accident in Emmett, ID helping out during a ward service project. A third daughter is in critical condition at a Boise area hospital. Emily was at home tending to her infant son. I don't know what else to do for this poor mother and her family but say a prayer. Events like this always make me aware of how fragile life really is, and how incredibly grateful I am for my testimony, family, and knowledge of the gospel.

Update: If you would like to read more about this family, click on my in-laws blog "Mom and Dad Cluff." She has written up a little more about the situation and a donation fund that has been set up for the family to pay for funeral costs and hospital bills. The family was waiting for insurance to kick in when this accident happened.

Some Pictures

This post is mostly pictures with a little explanation. It's a busy place here, with lots to do, especially outside. The weather is finally warming, which is nice, but the 99 degree day we're supposed to have tomorrow won't go in the 'nice' category. There will be a lot more pictures!

Jilly is loving getting all dirty in Grandma's flower beds. Picking the flowers is fun too, which she is showing off to me in this picture.

There are two little watering cans, one for each of the girls, but Evelyn still likes the huge watering can. And she tends to water the same spot, over and over instead of giving all the plants water, despite my telling her that ALL the plants like water. So I just hope she doesn't end up killing anything through over-watering.

Jilly took a few days to warm up to "Gan-pa" but started dragging books over one day for him to read.
Kaden and Evelyn loved playing together over the weekend. They could've spent hours on the tire swing.
And jumping on the trampoline. Jilly wanted in on the action, but the older kids are a little too rambunctious, and Jilly some-what under-coordinated at this point.
Here is Ben's beard, about 10 days ago. We'll keep you posted on that action. He doesn't like to shave, but BYU honor code says no beards on campus. So he'll grow it out until he has to go back to school on June 23rd.
This was today, out planting the garden. Can you see the mud on Jilly's face? Mmmm, mud. I had to get the soil ready, so out came the hose and Evelyn thought it would be a good opportunity to water Jilly. Hey, maybe it'll help her grow. My mom has a rock in one of her flower beds that says, "Grow, dang it!" I say the same, but with a lot more love of course.

Back on the Farm

We had a whirlwind week of family visiting and even a party, and then packing and lots of driving to make it out to Washington for the next six weeks. The girls are liking it, Evelyn started talking about jumping on the trampoline 10 days ago. She also likes having Heather and Ryan around, especially the latter who is playing hide-and-seek with her this very moment. I'm typing this right before dinner, so I will add some pictures from the last little while soon. I'm excited to see the green landscape here, Utah is still trying to get growing from the hard winter and cold spring. It's going to be a fun six weeks!
