I love Corona del Mar beach. I like it so much, that we've only been to three other beaches since living here. I guess I should increase my SoCal beach repertoire. This month we saw whales there, dolphins, lots of pelicans, the ever annoying pigeons and aggressive seagulls. They'll pack off your entire lunch if you're not careful!
My youngest brother came to see us for his Spring Break, and unfortunately, he came when we were not having as nice of weather as we usually do. It was cold (for us, at least; anything under 63°F, and we think we're pretty chilly) like being on the Oregon Coast.
I like this picture of Ev, it's just pretty with the bright colors and her blonde hair. She was pouting about something, I can't remember what.
Uncle Ryan helped dig the deepest hole the kids have ever seen. Gordon wanted to help by dumping more sand down it.
Even if it was only 57°, Ev will not be caught without a swimsuit at the beach. She had her jacket, and she was good.
The kids had fun standing in the hole, Gordon was filling it back in as he was standing there.
We would have stayed longer, but I was cold. Even Gordon was cold, he had a pink nose and cheeks by the time we left.
The next week, we went with our friend Emily and we actually watched a couple get married at the beach. It was kind of weird, there were a lot of people at the beach that day, and there was just this random couple who wanted a very small ceremony. It consisted of the couple, the marriage authority, the photographer, and the couple watching the married's two kids. The bride wore a knee-length lace dress and bare feet. Emily and I felt a little sad for them, that almost no one was there with them for a very special moment. Whatever floats your boat I guess!
Some of our favorite people dropped by for an afternoon to see us, and we hit the beach again, with much better weather. We were so glad we could visit with them. We have been very lucky to have great friends in all the places we've lived.
Five of the six kids we had there.
Here's a short video of us and our friends at the beach that day.

That is one pretty beach! I can see why you wouldn't want to go to other ones. =)
One day I'll make it to the CA Ocean. We just drove past it on our two trips down there because it was late and we didn't want to pay to park to go to the ocean for five minutes and our kids were tired. I guess we should have done it anyway...next time!
Enjoy your awesome weather!
Thanks for taking pictures and video! We had so much fun with you guys, the kids are thoroughly depressed after watching this and need to go back.
Nadell, this beach has pretty ample free parking if you're up for a short walk up and down a steep hill. The "free" aspect is a big part of why I like it so much!
I am catching up on you guys. Love seeing pictures of your kids and Jenny's. Brings back lovely memories!!
